How it Works
An approach for the dependent person has been tested and proven in our rural northeastern Pennsylvania location. "Does it work?" is the most asked question. We have found Serenity Lodge to be successful for hundreds of men since opening on May 1, 1993. Many of our residents have gone on to become sober and successful members of their communities.
Attendance is required Monday through Saturday at an 8:00 AM and 1:00 PM group meeting for all residents not employed or working that day. Attendance of a twelve-step meeting on a daily basis is required. There is one such meeting per week held at Serenity Lodge. Additionally, residents are transported to six outside meetings per week. Residents are also required to obtain a sponsor and to build a support group.
Our program is designed to teach residents to take responsibility for their own recovery. For this reason, they agree to stay a minimum of ninety days. Residents often volunteer to stay longer. The average stay is five months; the maximum stay is open-ended. Referrals of residents to Serenity Lodge come from some of the most respected and successful treatment centers in the United States.
